Hello Again
It has been a very long time since I've written here. So much has happened. AJ got sick in February. So sick that he missed 3 days of school. That just doesn't happen in our home.
AJ had the 5th grade GEO Challenge at the end of February. He had been competing in his class and was in first. The top 8 in each of the 4 classes competed to see who would go to District. AJ did fabulous. He got VERY nervous when it came down to the last 4 people and missed a simple question. He was frustrated to miss such a simple question as the capital of Alaska. I look at it as he took 4th out of at least 100 people. He can't feel bad about that. The top 3 went to district. We are very proud of him. Listening to those questions I could say, "I'm not smarter than a 5th grader."
Aaron heard about a play the middle of January and wanted to audition. I decided I could handle it because he'd be done the middle of March. That is short. They really didn't start practicing for 1776 until about a week into February. Aaron had some big parts. He memorized a lot and tried not to mix up which part he was at. Aaron played a "bad guy" for as much as 1776 has one and loved it. Sometimes rehearsals went until 2 am. This was hard. It was really nice when the play ended. The cast didn't have time to get tired of the show. Aaron is always fabulous and of course was this time too. I'm glad he got to do another show.
Our spring break was March 14-21. Our family had a great time. We bought some jumbo balls and the children enjoyed playing in them. We played croquett, baseball, saw "Tangled", and went to Dixie Rock and played hide and go seek. We really enjoy getting out and having fun with one another.
The weekend before spring break Brenda took the kids for 3 days and nights. This was so nice because I wasn't feeling that great. On Monday Aaron took me to the doctor and we found that I had Strep. I've never had strep before. I even grabbed the doctors hand when she tried to swab my throat. "That HURTS!" So during spring break I was on medication. All weekend long after that I felt great. Then the next Monday morning I started feeling yucky again. I felt so awful I took myself to the doctor Wednesday morning. (If you don't know, I avoid doctors. I don't get sick much and like to think I'm not really "that" sick. I'll get better.) The doctor was worried I'm sick again so soon after being on the last antibiotic. This time it's Bronchitis and maybe pnemonia. I decided since I ran around with Strep and didn't rest that I'd try resting this time and see if that helps me get better faster. Oh My Gosh! I don't rest well. I don't lay around doing nothing very easily. There is way too much to do. Anyway, now it's Sunday and I'm still having coughing attacks and breathing problems. Aaron wants me to get an inhaler. We'll see. I'm planning to be all better soon. Am I still in denile? Maybe. I just don't believe in being sick.
Aaron is soooo FABULOUS! This past week we had the Relief Society Birthday party. He helped me get the video together and made a game for me on the computer. Since I wasn't able to go, (stupid sickness) Aaron ran the computer for me. He helped with set up and clean up as well. He was made an honoraree member of the relief society about a year ago so it was okay for him to be there. I figured I sent my best part. I'm extremely greatful for all his help and support in my calling etc.
AJ had his first scout camp Friday night. Aaron went with him. It took them about 3 hours to find a camping spot, because it was raining and windy, but when they got there they had a lot of fun. Aaron said it stopped raining and didn't start up again until he finished rolling up the tent. They went on a hike and ended up with TONS of mud on their shoes. Everyone grew about 2 ft. AJ enjoyed chopping wood and helping with the cooking. They had a great time.
We finally reached the next phase of our lives. We didn't have internet from the end of February until this past week. We had been borrowing it from the neighbors. Anyway, we got our own connection this week and are back on. That was a good part of the reason it took me so long to write. I should be able to write more frequently again now. Of course I say that often and it doesn't always happen. I'll do my best. That's all anyone can ask.
