Basketball Done

Mattina Ann and I had our last basketball game this past Saturday. We did okay. I have been very proud of Mattina Ann and all of her accomplishments this past season. I coached her team so that she could learn something. I don't think I'm the best coach in the world, or even the city, but at least I can teach her something. Anyway, she's improving and doing great. I know she can't wait for next season. When the game ended last week the girls all wanted to know if I am going to coach next year. When I coached 2 years ago my answer was NO WAY. This year I would like to say yes. The catch being that these girls are 5 and 6th graders and next year Mattina Ann will be playing with 7 and 8th graders. I move up with her and only 2 other girls on our team would move up. The girls weren't too happy about that. I figure that's still a year away, I'll worry about that then. I really enjoyed the girls this year and their willingness to learn and try to do what I was trying to teach. The whole team came a long way.
AJ is frustrated with his team. He came to practices with my girls and learned some new things. When he tried to do them with his team they were frustrated with AJ. They didn't like AJ sticking his hand in their face when they were shooting. I need to figure out how to get AJ to get along with the boys on his team. I'm not going to worry about it this year. I just want him to have fun.
Mattina Ann had parent teacher conferences. She has all A's with an A-. We talked to her science teacher about the A-. Her teacher was concerned because she too thinks she can do better. In Language Arts her reading went from 8 grade reading to 9.4 grade reading and her math is improving as well. So Aaron and I decided that if she reads the text book in science that she might actually do better on her tests. She had a test last Friday and got 100%. I'm glad we were able to figure something out. I know an A- isn't a big deal. We just know she can do better.
Tanner and Geremy are still loving school. Tanner had homework to write everyones whole name in his family. We tried to do this one night and he had a hard time. He just didn't want to do it. The next morning we worked on it again. When he went to school he had Aaron's name and part of mine. I told him to work on it while he waited for his class to start. Grandma Smith came out when I picked Geremy up and told me Tanner had gone in there and worked diligently on it and finished it. What happened was my question. I know he can write his letters, he just chooses not to. I was so glad he did it.
I got Geremy signed up for preschool next year. That wasn't easy. I actually got him signed up in the class I wanted. That wasn't easy either. Donna Williams was so sweet to go sit in the rain for 2 hours and take care of that for me. I owe her big time.
AJ got his handyman in scouts and is working on his fitness. He should have that this week and start on his next thing so he can get his webelo's hopefully in April. That would be the earliest to get it anyway. He has another pinewood derby coming up then. That will be fun.
Aaron has SEP's this week. That always means a long week. He finished the DVD about his father yesterday. The only thing left is to put labels on them. He did a great job on the DVD. He has been so strong during everything. He's an amazing man.
Hopefully I haven't forgotten to key in too much. If so I'll try to remember the next time I sit down to write.
